➪ Career Futures was originally founded in 1986 as a private, non-profit organization that is incorporated under State law and whose purpose is not to make a profit, but rather to further meet employment needs in the community of Butte, Montana. Although Career Futures receives funding from State entities, it is not state controlled  and is not owned or operated by the government. Career Futures is registered with the Secretary of State, has By-Laws, a Board of Directors, and a paid Executive  Director and staff.

The services have since grown to meet the changing demands of the workforce where we have expanded to serve all adults and businesses within Butte and  surrounding rural counties. Many of our services are available in the following counties:

  • Butte - Silver Bow

  • Deer Lodge

  • Granite

  • Powell

  • Beaverhead

  • Whitehall - Southern Jefferson

Career Futures has operated the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Work Readiness Component Program (WoRC) - now known as Pathways - since 1996 and also administers:

State Displaced Homemaker Program (1986)

Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act (WIOA) (1998)

Career Futures has been in operation since 1986, 30 years, and has served thousands of low-income families in a six county region where Butte Silver Bow has the largest population served. The average stay on TANF in Butte is 3-4 months. Because of the training, case management, and job retention services provided to the participants, the participants have a low recidivism into the welfare system.  Additionally, Career Futures interacts with the area employers in order to understand their needs for an employee. Career Futures also works closely with employers to assist with soft skills and job retention training and other organizational training requested by the employee.
